The Alpinestars Andes Drystar Jacket is yet another fine product of Alpinestars’ aggressive drive to bring innovative functions and great style to touring riders and commuters, and at a price that leaves you with something left over for other fun stuff. We love the Andes Drystar Jacket, and we love the fact that it’s only $249.95.

The Andes Drystar is a waterproof, 3/4-length, cold weather jacket that is filled with helpful features as well as bread-and-butter functionality. Alpinestars’ premium Drystar waterproof and breathable membrane is built right into the Andes and is not removable. Zippered venting on the shoulders flows air through the jacket, pulling moisture and hot air from the breathable membrane, and exhausting it out through the zippered venting on the back. The quilted thermal liner is removable and can be stowed in one of the two waterproof cargo pockets on the front of the jacket or in the large water-resistant pouch on the back.

The upper half of the main zipper on the Andes can be snapped open for additional climate control. The half-open zipper option is great for the Bay Area’s fluctuating temperatures, and the collar can even be folded and snapped down for comfort in the back.

The fit and style of the Andes is exceptional. The look is trim and neat, not bulky like many other touring jackets in this price category. The design details of the Andes are sharp, from the embroidered Andes logo on the arms to the integrated reflective panels on the front, sides, and back.

The Andes Drystar Jacket is an excellent choice for riders looking for a winter touring jacket that is highly protective and thoughtfully designed. And if you like the idea of a jacket that looks like one that costs twice as much, you’ll love the Andes as much as we do.
