Santa Cruz Mountains North Loop Ride

BY Road Rider MCA - August 13th, 2015

8. Santa Cruz Mountains North Loop

One-Way/Round-Trip Distance: 75 miles/124 miles

Total Riding Time: 3 hours, 25 minutes

This ride starts at Alice’s Restaurant and descends the foggy north section of the Santa Cruz Mountains to the coast. The redwoods fall away to salty air, low scrub and farmlands as you wind your way down La Honda and Pescadero Roads. If you’re riding on an empty stomach, hit famous Duarte’s Tavern in Pescadero for some seriously indulgent coastal comfort food, or Davenport’s Whale City Bakery, Bar, and Grill and enjoy the view of the coast from their patio. On your return trip, you’ll travel the quiet country roads of Bonny Doon.

Map Notes: Ready to head back? Take Highway 9 all the way to San Jose, or to avoid the backside of 9, take Empire Grade into Santa Cruz and pick up 17.
