Back Roads to San Juan Bautista Ride

BY Road Rider MCA - August 21st, 2015

1. Back Roads to San Juan Bautista

One-Way/Round-Trip Distance: 56 miles/111 miles

Total Riding Time: 2 hours, 45 minutes

This easy ride takes you past Calero and Uvas Reservoirs and through the quiet, undeveloped foothills of southern Santa Clara County. Make it a mellow lunch run for you and a passenger or fellow new rider, or play with route options to make it a longer ride.

San Juan Bautista is a little gem of a town with some great grub stops, like Margot’s Ice Cream Parlor and the famous San Juan Bakery. Be sure to check out the town’s namesake, too, the beautiful Mission San Juan Bautista, the north side of which overlooks the very edge of the San Andreas Fault and the El Camino Real.

Map Notes: Add some difficulty to your ride by taking Hecker Pass to Highway 129/San Juan Highway.
