Though Laguna Seca won’t host MotoGP in 2014, it will host World Superbike – the series returned to Monterey in 2013 after an 8-year absence. This year WSBK will take the summertime slot traditionally held by MotoGP and, hopefully, that means all the Bay Area bikers jonesing for some racing come July will head to WSBK instead. And, though locally most of us likely aren’t very familiar with the riders and the race drama of the World Superbike world, many consider WSBK racing to be more exciting than GP racing because the rules allow for a larger pool of competition, a closer, more level playing field, and thus racing action of a kind that is rarely seen in MotoGP these days.
Our MotoGP Spaghetti Feed has taken place the week before the Laguna round of MotoGP for many years, and it has been one of our most popular events. So this year, we’ll be hosting a reinvented version: the World Superbike _______ Feed. We’ll still have a killer sportbike sale that day, delicious and free food of some kind, and great raffle giveaways from Alpinestars and other supporters. We hope you make it out the Feed this year, and head to Monterey for WSBK on July 13th, 14th, and 15th.
