Our History

The 70s

Baby Road Rider finds its way into the world in May of 1978. Sam and Pearl and their son Robert and daughter-in-law Caryl are tired of delivering mobile homes up and down the West Coast and decide to change their lives. Avid riders themselves, they can't find the basic stuff they need for their motorcycles. So, they scrape together their cash, buy some wares, and lease a space wedged between a four-wheel drive shop and a John Deere equipment center.

The 80s

The 80s are rough on music and fashion, but they are exciting for RR as it expands into the two spaces adjacent to the original location. With 10,000 square feet of motorcycle gear to explore and a solid staff of knowledgeable riders at Road Rider, life is good for local motorcyclists.

Road Rider also brings aboard Dave, Robert's close cousin and fellow rider.

The 90s and Early-2000s

Despite the looming threat of data corruption and an all-out apocalypse, local riders keep coming to Road Rider for its great prices and broad selection of parts, accessories, and riding gear. Road Rider's Parking Lot Sale sees phenomenal success and becomes an impressive mainstay on riders' annual calendars.

Today

In the age of Internet price shopping and guess-fitting, Road Rider continues to offer a full selection of motorcycle goodies at prices that are better than anywhere else. Its continued emphasis on the Bay Area riding community make it one of the premier Bay Area shops. Just see what Yelpers have to say.

Tomorrow

As shoppers find new ways to shop and participate in the riding community, Road Rider aspires to find new ways of serving motorcyclists. In the next few years, expect to see exciting changes at Road Rider.

But, Bay Area motorcyclists can always expect the same quality service, selection, and prices.
